2013 Christmas Impact Story

It was as month before Christmas, and things were going well until Saint Nick received a call. The call was from Chicago, and it appeared the Shanna family was not doing well. There would be no Christmas. No, not at all. No Christmas tree, lights, candy canes, toys, clothes, and no special meal on Christmas day.

Santa checked his book on naughty or nice, to find Shanna’s family was on the nice list.
Santa walked up and down the floor, saying this can’t be, there must be something we can do. Santa checked his book with a fine-tooth comb, and he discovered that this mother, Shanna, was unemployed and about to lose her home. Now Santa sprang into action and called on his Elf’s
He calls on Rev. Hill and the Inter-Faith Ministry, Rev Boyd and the mission, Congressman Rush and his affiliates, he calls Florence, Brenda, Hazel, Teresa, and Clovita and even the American Association for Women Community College. There was one thing missing, a list of Shanna needs–Santa didn’t have a needs list, there was no request. There was no need to worry, as Santa knew just what to do. Santa emailed elf Linda and told her what she needed to do.

Shanna attended Truman College, and I, Linda, IROM’s Community Outreach Specialist, was her advisor, As Shanna shared her story with me, I suggested that we pray first and then write out a needs list.

Each elf was given assignments, and they all knew just what to do to make this mother’s dreams come true. There was one question remaining and had to be answered. How to get Shanna there to the college, and where inside the college she should go? I thought it would be best to call Shanna on a test day. Now the plot was all set, Shanna was given the date and time, and place to take her test and even what entrance she was to use. As Shanna walked down the hallway, security was on alert and ready upon her arrival.

The room was dark as Santa awaited to escort Shanna to her place. Each elf was at the college and at their post, and was waiting to be called as some were close by and some were not so close.

Each elf proceeded to come in when the whistle cue was sounded. Some brought Christmas tree lights and candy canes. Some brought clothes, someone brought a bike, a train, dolls, and a doll house, coats and boots, it was a sight to be seen. Oh yes, let us not forget the word of God! Someone brought a Bible for Shanna’s home, and as the ministers surrounded Shanna house, and to the tune of Silent Night, she found GOD on that Christmas Eve.

You see, God has a way of reaching his children through ordinary people– Santa was the intercessor, and the Elves were the angels standing at their post.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a Goodnight. God Bless each and everyone.
